What is Leadership Coaching?

Add a heading (5)

“Leadership Coaching is a developmental process where a leader gets customized support from a coach to achieve a professional goal and become a more effective leader.”

When a leader has the technical excellence, knowledge and resources to achieve a desired outcome, and is unable to influence and make the difference they want in the space they work, more training is often not the answer. Leaders usually don’t want to sit through a training program to learn, they need something more personal and customised,  a “confidential sounding board” to explore options or help them gain better perspective of their challenges so that they can make their own choices and take effective actions to achieve their goals.

Our clients, especially leaders at higher levels, often feel like they are alone and don’t have someone to confide in about their situation. Many times, they don’t have anyone around them who will respectfully challenge them.

Leadership coaching is “tailored to the individual” depending on the client’s current situations and desired goals.  It is supporting a leader to learn rather than to teach. It provides a safe environment where the client can talk openly about their challenges, dreams, goals and obstacles. This environment enables the coach and client to explore problems, brainstorm solutions and create action plans. There is also accountability, where the coach follows up to see that plans and actions are achieved.

When a leader go into a leadership coaching engagement with an open mind, a willingness to grow,  and taking full advantage of the opportunity of it, it empowers individuals to reach their full potential and become inspirational leaders.
